Learn something every time you reach for your phone
Most of us open the same apps dozens of times a day without deciding to. BrainTok uses that moment: before an app you chose opens, you answer a few quick questions, learn the answer, and carry on.
How it works
- Choose the apps to put a quiz in front of, through Apple’s Screen Time.
- Choose what to learn: topics from the library, or quizzes you make with AI from your notes.
- Choose how often: every 15 minutes to every 2 hours (30 minutes by default).
- Open an app when a quiz is due, answer 3 questions (or 1 to 20, your call), read the explanation, and the app opens.
A pause that teaches, not a toll
Wrong answers still open your apps. BrainTok isn’t there to punish you or make you earn your screen time; it’s there so the few seconds before you scroll leave you knowing something new. Every answer, right or wrong, comes with a short explanation.
And if you don’t feel like a quiz right now, “Not now” keeps the app closed.
What you can learn
The library has short quizzes on subjects like history, science and geography, reviewed by people before they’re published, in English, Spanish and Italian. You can also make your own from anything you’re studying. Try sample questions from the quiz library on this site.
Private by design
Apple’s Screen Time gives BrainTok an opaque token for each app you pick: we can’t see which apps they are or how you use them. Your answers and stats stay on your iPhone.
Questions
Will I get a quiz every time I open an app?
No. After a quiz your apps stay open until the next one is due, at the interval you set, from 15 minutes to 2 hours.
Can I take a break?
Yes. Take a break from Home, or set a weekly schedule to turn quizzes off at set times.
How much does it cost?
$7.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers.
